Lincoln, Logs, and LOTS of Snow

Plenty of time for extra President's Day reading and log cabin making today as the snow continued to seriously pile up. I always forget how long many of the D'Aulaire picture books are; it took us several stops and starts to get through Abraham Lincoln this afternoon.

Speaking of legendary books (anything by the D'Aulaires qualifies in my mind - their Greek Myths has been read numerous times around here), we finally read a Hilda von Stockum.  Wow. The Winged Watchman is up there now on my favorite read-a-loud list. I'm hoping to get my hands on the Mitchell's series very soon.
