2 Big Announcements

On the national front, way to go John McCain! Sarah Palin is a great pick... It was incredibly moving to see her and her beautiful family today speaking from Dayton, Ohio.

On the home front, we're expecting another baby here at Living Waters! Baby #5 is due March 27, 2009. Can't wait to post a baby ticker on my sidebar...

Tractor Pull

Our first week of school has gone surprisingly well. The boys are MUCH BETTER about entertaining themselves this year, which is a huge bonus. Usually, they play in their room right next door to our learning room. Yesterday, I let them outside while we were finishing up and putting stuff away. Here's what we found them doing... (Keep in mind, we live in a cul-de-sac where we're the only people home all day so they're allowed to meander on the street)

Elbow is pretty happy to have "skipped kindergarten." Actually, when I went to file her paperwork in our new state, I found out the birthday guidelines are different here, making her a young first grader rather than an old kindergartener.

Bobo is loving the Christian Liberty Nature Readers and cursive.

Tomorrow we'll give ourselves a vacation day to celebrate Elbow's birthday!

Another Amphibian Rescued From An Unfortunate Fate

Bedtime prayers often provide the perfect forum for "true confessions." Sometimes a grievance is shared, or a personal triumph celebrated. Tonight, Bobo non-chalantly remarked (in the middle of a rousing rendition of Beautiful Savior), "we left a toad in the mailbox for safe keeping."

We're Off And Running

We got our little school started today, doing just two subjects for the girls and introducing circle time for all. Each day we'll add a subject until we're at full speed, sometime next week. (I hope to post the girl's curriculum on my side bar soon).

Toddzilla wasn't quite sure about circle time. He was a rather rambunctious flag holder for our Pledge of Allegiance but it got the job done. Afterwards, I released the little ones to their room for "boy's club." This worked nicely for today. We'll see how it holds up as the novelty wears off.

Circle time consists of prayer, a chapter from Leading Little Ones to God, the Pledge of Allegiance, calendar, counting, and clock work.
Happy beginnings to all of you...

Postcards From Our Last Summer Hurrah

I should be getting things ready for the beginning of our school year, but since I haven't even picked our official start date yet (either end of this week or beginning of next), it can wait.

It's much more fun to look over pictures from our trip. Even the horrendous time in the car journey doesn't seem so bad when I see these little smiling faces.

Almost caught up with the laundry and I've made a slight dent in the mail. Yes, "sufficient for the day is it's own trouble" (Matthew 6:34). I take that to mean both can wait...

We've Come Along Way...

2000 miles in the car in nine days with four little ones. I wouldn't recommend it. But we managed to get home all in one piece and have a great time at the lake, at a family reunion, and with some old Fargo friends too.

Just popping in to say a quick hello before completely crashing and avoiding all bags, laundry, car clean up, and everything else until tomorrow. Until then, goodnight my friends...

Little Random Bits

We're gearing up for a big family reunion and then a visit with best friends from Fargo. This is the first time the children will see their best friends since the move so everyone is very excited!

I've pretty much got our plans ready for the upcoming school year, which I'll post later.

The neighborhood children are teaching mine the whole repertoire of Hannah Montana songs. Who says home schooled children are sheltered?

My oldest is outside snuggled up in the hammock with a good book. I'm without a good book right now so I'm jealous. Must fix that.

Obviously, there's not much going on around here these days. Hope you're having a good week!
